Salman Khan Launches 500‑Home Rebuilding Drive for Assam Flood Victims

Bollywood actor Salman Khan, through his Being Human foundation, has partnered with the NGO Global Sikhs to construct 500 semi‑permanent houses for families displaced by the severe floods in Assam, India. The initiative follows an earlier phase that provided food aid and now focuses on shelter, aiming to build eight to ten homes per day.

To date, 220 houses have been completed in Nepali Khuti, the village most affected by the flooding, and the project targets a total of 500 homes. Khan’s involvement was spurred after seeing fellow actor Randeep Hooda’s on‑ground relief work, leading to a collaboration that also engages local Salman Khan fan clubs.

The effort represents a shift from short‑term relief to longer‑term rehabilitation, with the semi‑permanent structures designed to be flood‑resilient and cost‑effective, each estimated at Rs 35,000‑40,000.
