Salomey Baffoe bail hearing adjourned in Ghana Jollof case

An Accra High Court has adjourned the bail hearing for Salomey Awity Baffoe, a senior nursing officer accused of abetting the publication of false news. The adjournment to September 24 follows a request from state prosecutors for additional time to respond to the defense's application.

Baffoe is facing charges related to the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok case. Police allege she acted as a liaison for Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, a UK-based social media personality, by helping to distribute videos and managing financial links identified through mobile money records. Baffoe has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Defense counsel Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has argued against the continued detention, noting that the police investigation is effectively complete and expressing concern for Baffoe’s health. Lawyers have also raised concerns regarding her liberty, arguing that the matter should not be subject to the same procedural delays as civil cases. The court has directed the prosecution to file and serve all necessary processes by the morning of September 24.
