Salou kicks off Nits Daurades 2026 summer festival

The coastal town of Salou officially opened its summer celebration, the Nits Daurades 2026, on Saturday evening. The opening ceremony featured the traditional pregó, delivered by Cristina Lagé Manich, Director General of Tourism for the Generalitat de Catalunya. The event began in the gardens of the Xalet Torremar, the headquarters of Salou’s municipal tourism board, and will continue daily until 15 August.

Mayor Pere Granados welcomed the crowd, describing the Nits Daurades as more than a program of activities – a period of community, reunion and belonging. He highlighted Salou’s image as a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming city, and praised the sustainable, innovative tourism model promoted by the Catalan government. Thousands of residents, visitors, local officials, police, military, judges, business leaders and cultural representatives attended the inauguration, underscoring the festival’s role in showcasing the town’s beaches, heritage, gastronomy and hospitality.
