Salta and Río Negro provinces ramp up security spending

Governor Gustavo Sáenz said Salta has already invested over 13,000 million pesos in the Plan Güemes, a border‑security operation along the Bolivia frontier. He urged the national government to add radar coverage and aircraft‑destruction tools, questioning, “¿De qué nos sirve cuidar la frontera abajo si por arriba pasan los aviones llenos de droga y nadie los controla?”

In Río Negro, the provincial government announced a major upgrade of its public‑security system in the Alto Valle. The project will double camera coverage from about 630 to 1,300 units and introduce artificial‑intelligence tools, automatic license‑plate readers and real‑time vehicle tracking (AVL). New monitoring centres will be built in Allen, Roca, Cinco Saltos and other towns, expanding a network of 16 centres across more than 20 locations.

Both provinces aim to strengthen crime prevention and emergency response through greater investment and technology.
