Salta leaders confront gas shortage and legislative commission dispute

Governor Gustavo Sáenz urged legislators from the ten northern provinces to form a unified bloc in the national congress and demand long‑term gas infrastructure and investment to address severe winter gas cuts that have forced many industries in the Argentine northwest to curtail production.

Provincial senator Roque Cornejo criticised the composition of the Salta Legislature’s Audit Commission, saying it violates the provincial constitution by including only one opposition member instead of the required four, and warned that such breaches undermine institutional integrity.
