Salta Province adds community work option for traffic fines and waives electricity transfer deposits
The Municipality of Salta announced a Municipal Community Responsibility and Road Safety Program allowing first‑time offenders of minor traffic violations to replace fines with community service. The scheme targets low‑severity infractions such as riding a motorcycle without a homologated helmet, driving without lights, not wearing a seatbelt, or using a phone while driving, and may also apply to drivers with blood‑alcohol levels below 0.50 g/L. Participation is limited to primary offenders with no recent traffic violations or involvement in accidents.
Separately, the Salta Public Services Regulatory Entity approved a measure that removes the security deposit normally required to change the name on an electricity contract for beneficiaries of the Provincial Electric Bonus for retirees and pensioners, as well as provincial water and electricity subsidies for low‑income households. The change aims to eliminate a financial barrier that has prevented thousands of eligible users from completing the transfer, thereby improving access to provincial assistance programmes.
