Water supply disruptions affect multiple Latin American regions

Various regions across Latin America are experiencing water supply challenges due to environmental factors, infrastructure issues, and utility failures.

In Peru, Tumbes is facing water shortages caused by low river levels during the dry season, affecting the El Milagro treatment plant. In Paracas, construction of a new 1,000-cubic-meter reservoir is 40% complete to support local tourism and residents. Meanwhile, in Puno, residents have warned of flood risks due to riverbed obstructions.

In Mexico, power outages in Coahuila have disrupted water pumping and industrial activities. In Hermosillo, heavy rains caused a pipeline rupture, and in Ciudad Juárez, a sewage collapse created a sinkhole. Other areas like Puebla and San Luis Potosí are managing network modernizations and leak repairs.

In Colombia, Bogotá is implementing scheduled water cuts in several localities for maintenance and valve installations. In Ecuador, Guayaquil is working to restore service following repairs to a main aqueduct. In Chile, Lo Barnechea is facing temporary service suspensions for regulator station maintenance.
