Mexico announces 1.33 trillion peso infrastructure investment plan

The Mexican government, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), has announced a historic public investment of 1.33 trillion pesos for the 2025-2030 period. This funding aims to drive large-scale infrastructure projects, including highways, educational facilities, and sports venues. For 2026 alone, over 135 billion pesos are earmarked for these sectors, while 104 billion pesos are dedicated to freight and passenger rail projects managed by ATTRAPI and the Ministry of Defense.

In the state of Hidalgo, significant industrial developments are underway. The Cooperativa La Cruz Azul is investing 6.5 billion pesos to modernize its cement plant in Tula de Allende and upgrade its local hospital, a move expected to generate 14,200 direct and indirect jobs. Additionally, the Zapotlán Economic Development Pole is set to receive over 10.1 billion pesos in investment to foster high-specialization industries such as pharmaceuticals and aerospace.

Regional mobility projects are also advancing. In the eastern State of Mexico, a 995 million peso investment is funding the construction of 10 vehicular bridges across seven municipalities to improve connectivity for approximately 10 million residents. Furthermore, in Morelos, a 335 million peso project is underway to build a road distributor near the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM), which is expected to reduce travel times by up to 45 minutes.
