Salto develops mental health plan for 2027-2029

The department of Salto is developing its Departmental Mental Health Plan for the 2027-2029 period. Based on an approved departmental diagnosis, the plan aims to focus on prevention, community support, youth participation, and addressing needs in rural areas.

Psychologist Valeria Peiró, who is coordinating the plan's development, emphasizes that the strategy must go beyond simply providing specialists. The initiative seeks to address the underlying conditions of mental distress, combat social stigma, and reduce isolation. The approach aligns with national community strategies and a human rights framework, treating mental health as an integral part of overall health.
