Salus Seregno cycling club hit with 20-year ban for coach Danilo Napolitano in doping case

Italy’s anti‑doping tribunal has imposed severe sanctions in a doping case centred on the junior development team Salus Ciclistica Seregno ASD. Former professional rider and coach Danilo Napolitano received a 20‑year ban for alleged possession and administration of prohibited substances, while the club’s former president Marco Moretto was handed an eight‑year suspension for complicity and proof‑burden violations. The penalties were issued by NADO Italia following provisional suspensions in April and were posted on the Italian Cycling Federation’s website without further detail.

The case involves alleged breaches of Articles 2.6, 2.8, 2.9 and 3.1 of the World Anti‑Doping Code. Neither Napolitano, Moretto nor Salus Seregno have commented publicly. The sanctions effectively bar both individuals from any involvement in cycling activities until 2034‑2046, underscoring the federation’s strict stance on doping in youth sport.
