Salvador and São José finish major drainage and urban renovation projects

The municipality of Salvador, Brazil, handed over the urbanisation and macrodrenage works on the Buraco da Gia canal in Vila Canária. The R$ 2 million intervention added a concrete‑covered canal, 1,000 m² of pavement, LED lighting, a new plaza and 47 rain‑water collection points, aiming to end chronic flooding and open‑sewer problems that have affected residents for decades.

In São José, the city advanced the final phase of macrodrenage in the Serraria neighbourhood. New 2 × 2 m concrete galleries were installed alongside the local health unit, and over 50 % of the paver pavement, sidewalks and drainage boxes have been completed. The works are intended to boost flood protection, improve mobility and raise property values in the area.
