Salvador Illa travels to Kyiv to support Ukraine and reconstruction

Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat, is traveling to Kyiv to demonstrate Catalonia's support for Ukraine and to discuss future reconstruction efforts. He is the first regional president to make an official visit to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022.

Illa is accompanied by Jaume Duch, Counselor of European Union and Foreign Action, and Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni. The delegation's itinerary includes a stop in Warsaw, Poland, to meet with the Council for Cooperation between Poland and Ukraine before proceeding to Kyiv.

The mission aims to establish institutional alliances and consolidate cooperation programs for humanitarian aid and reconstruction. Mayor Collboni's agenda includes signing a memorandum of understanding with Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and delivering firefighting vehicles and equipment from the Barcelona City Council to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
