Pope Leo XIV's upcoming Argentina visit drives tourism and political coordination
Pope Leo XIV is preparing for an upcoming visit to Argentina in November, an event generating significant political and economic activity. In Córdoba, the provincial government has convened both ruling and opposition parties to coordinate the logistics of the historic visit. The anticipated influx of visitors, which could reach up to one million people, has created high expectations for the local hospitality and gastronomy sectors, with hotels already facing potential capacity shortages.
In Argentina, travel agencies have begun marketing tour packages to cities including Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján, with prices ranging from 190,000 to 410,000 pesos. Ahead of the trip, a delegation of Argentine union and business leaders met with the Pope at the Vatican to present a report regarding the country's current social and economic challenges under the Milei administration.
In a separate religious context, the bishops of El Salvador concluded their ‘ad limina Apostolorum’ visit in Rome. During meetings with the Pope, they discussed the social reality of El Salvador, including the impact of the ongoing state of exception. The Salvadoran clergy also presented a relic of Saint Óscar Romero to the Pontiff.
