Salvo Sottile insulted by Report reporters at Rai headquarters

A verbal altercation occurred at the Rai headquarters in via Teulada between journalist Salvo Sottile and two reporters from the investigative program Report, Bernardo Iovene and Luca Bertazzoni. The incident took place in the courtyard as Sottile was arriving for a press conference regarding his new program, ‘Ore 14’.

Sottile reported being insulted with terms such as ‘venduto’ (sellout) and other profanities after simply greeting his colleagues. The tension reportedly stems from Sottile’s recent social media activity regarding Sigfrido Ranucci, which had previously drawn criticism from Rai board member Roberto Natale. Sottile denied attacking anyone, stating he was merely sharing articles from other journalists regarding important news events.

Rai is conducting internal reviews to determine if disciplinary actions are necessary. Members of the Rai Vigilance Commission have called for a reduction in tensions to protect the public service broadcaster’s image.
