Salzgitter lifts 2026 outlook on strong first half and HKM acquisition

German steel producer Salzgitter AG raised its full‑year 2026 targets after a robust first half and the completion of the Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM) purchase. The company now expects revenue of around €10.0 billion, up from the previous €9.5 billion outlook. EBITDA guidance was increased to €725‑825 million, higher than the earlier €625‑725 million range, and pre‑tax profit is now projected at €325‑425 million versus €200‑300 million before.

In the first six months, provisional figures showed revenue of €4.6 billion (slightly below the €4.7 billion a year earlier), while EBITDA jumped from €117 million to €459 million and pre‑tax profit turned positive at €258 million after a €84 million loss. The results were boosted by a €193 million contribution from Salzgitter’s equity stake in Aurubis, compared with €72 million a year earlier. The Salzgitter share price rose up to about 5 % following the announcement, and analysts expect consensus estimates to be revised upward. The company expects only modest improvement in market conditions for the second half, but anticipates positive effects from European trade‑protection measures. The half‑year figures are scheduled for publication on 11 August.
