Sam Wood charged with domestic violence in Queensland
Sam Wood, a former star of The Bachelor Australia and prominent fitness entrepreneur, has been arrested and charged with two counts of domestic violence: assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting. The incident allegedly occurred on a Saturday night at a property in Noosa, Queensland.
Wood, 46, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody after being refused bail. His lawyer, Matthew Cuskelly, stated that Wood intends to defend the charges and will apply for bail on Thursday.
The allegations have led to immediate professional consequences. DBG Health, the parent company of Wood’s fitness brand ‘28 by Sam Wood’, has terminated all commercial arrangements with him, stating they have ‘zero tolerance for domestic violence’. Other collaborators and celebrities have also announced they are severing ties or pausing partnerships with his brands.
Wood and his wife, Snezana Markoski, issued a joint statement via social media, noting that it is a ‘difficult time for all of us’ and confirming they are ‘thoroughly co-operating with the authorities’.
