Sambhal district prepares for Kanwar Yatra, expects up to 350,000 pilgrims

The administration of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh has finalized security, traffic, sanitation and pilgrim‑service arrangements for the annual Shrawan Kanwar Yatra. District magistrate Akrit Khandelwal told IANS that the holy month of Saawan begins on 3 August and that between 300,000 and 350,000 devotees are expected to pass through the district.

Authorities have coordinated with multiple departments to repair routes, install lighting, clean camps and monitor crowd movement. About 85 magistrates have been deployed along the pilgrimage path to conduct regular inspections. Food‑safety teams are checking hotels, dhabas and restaurants, and meat shops within a 50‑metre radius of religious sites have been ordered to close. The officials aim for a peaceful and safe passage for all pilgrims.
