Sosa’s appearance has drawn attention from fans due to his skin tone, which appears to have shifted from the lighter complexion he displayed during a controversial period years ago. In 2009, Sosa faced significant backlash after appearing at the Latin Grammy Awards with noticeably lighter skin, which he attributed to the use of a skin-whitening cream applied before bed.

During previous interviews regarding the controversy, Sosa maintained that his personal decisions were his own, stating, “I do whatever I want.” His son, Sammy Jr., previously noted that while the public discourse did not affect him, his father is a private individual who felt his hard work was being undermined by scrutiny over personal choices.
