Sampaio Corrêa faces R$613k claim from ex‑vice president Perez Silva da Paz

The Brazilian football club Sampaio Corrêa is involved in a labor lawsuit filed by former vice‑president and ex‑legal director Perez Silva da Paz. The claim, amounting to R$613,255.52, seeks recognition of an employment relationship dating back to June 2017, indirect termination of the contract, and payment of unpaid wages, vacation, 13th‑month salary, FGTS, notice period and other labor benefits.

The club disputes any employment link, stating that directors receive a representation fee and never have signed work contracts. A conciliation hearing on 28 May ended without agreement, and the judge denied Perez’s request for confidentiality and an urgent order to release FGTS funds. The case now moves to an evidence‑production phase, with a future hearing to be scheduled. Club president Sergio Frota called the claim unjustifiable and accused Perez of trying to drain the club’s finances. Perez was previously expelled from the club’s social board after an extraordinary assembly.
