Turkey expands municipal water supply with new dams and pipeline upgrades
The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality signed contracts to build the Çiçekyazı Dam, a 74‑metre high, 506‑metre long rock‑fill structure designed to deliver about 8.46 million cubic metres of water annually to the districts of Asarcık, Kavak, Havza and Ladik and to the Havza Organized Industrial Zone.
Kocaeli’s Derince neighbourhoods of Çınarlı, Sırrıpaşa and Çenedağ are receiving a 400 million TL upgrade of drinking‑water, sewer and storm‑water pipelines, with thousands of metres of new lines to serve residents and improve service reliability.
In Hatay’s Belen district, the HATSU agency is tapping excess flow from the Hanardı source to boost the supply to the Muhlisali, Bakras, Sarımazı, Derebahçe, İssume and Fatih neighbourhoods, enhancing capacity for summer demand.
Sungurlu’s fourth phase of its water‑network renewal will lay 17,210 metres of new pipe, connecting about 500 households and bringing the overall upgraded length to roughly 139 km, aiming to cut leaks and ensure continuous service.
