Samsung and LG Smart TVs to lose Xbox Cloud Gaming access

Samsung and LG Smart TV models manufactured in 2020 or earlier will lose access to Xbox Cloud Gaming starting November 3, 2026. While the Xbox application may remain on the devices, the software will no longer support game streaming.

The incompatibility stems from new technical requirements for Microsoft’s service, which will require Web Worker functionality available in Chromium 70 or higher. Older Samsung models are limited to Chromium 69, and older LG models are limited to Chromium 68. Because these manufacturers no longer provide major software updates for these specific models, they cannot meet the new technical standards.

Users can maintain access to the service without purchasing a new television by using compatible streaming devices. Hardware running recent versions of Google TV, Android TV, or Amazon Fire TV OS can serve as an alternative to stream the service to the existing screen.
