Xbox Cloud Gaming smart TV integration and compatibility

Overview

Microsoft and TCL have partnered to integrate Xbox Cloud Gaming into select TCL smart TV models via software updates. This allows users to stream games directly to their televisions using a controller, a stable internet connection, and a Game Pass subscription, removing the requirement for a physical Xbox console.

However, technical requirements for the service are shifting. Starting November 3, 2026, Samsung and LG smart TV models manufactured in 2020 or earlier will lose access to Xbox Cloud Gaming. The service will now require Web Worker functionality available in Chromium 70 or higher, but older Samsung and LG models are limited to Chromium 69 and Chromium 68, respectively. Because these manufacturers no longer provide major software updates for these older models, they cannot meet the new standards. Users can maintain access by using compatible streaming devices running recent versions of Google TV, Android TV, or Amazon Fire TV OS.
