Samsung Display aims for 48% OLED monitor share with new tandem‑OLED panels
The global gaming‑monitor market is projected to reach roughly €42 billion by 2034, growing at an annual 14.2% driven by esports and advances in OLED and mini‑LED technology. Samsung Display expects to capture about 48% of the mid‑to‑large OLED monitor segment by the third quarter of 2026, possibly rising to 50% by the fourth quarter, thanks to a new 8.6‑generation production line and a supply contract for the Apple MacBook Pro 2026.
At the same time, rival LG Display reported Q2 2026 revenue of around €3.9 billion, posting an adjusted operating profit of €90 million after restructuring losses. LG aims to double the share of OLED monitors in its large‑format OLED shipments from roughly 10% in 2025 to about 20% by the end of 2026.
Samsung has also begun mass production of tandem‑OLED panels that meet the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard, delivering peak brightness up to 1 600 nits and black‑level emissions as low as 0.0005 nits. The first laptops using the technology, such as Lenovo’s Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition, have already received certification, and partners including ASUS, Dell and MSI plan to launch their own devices later this year and into the next.
These developments intensify competition in the high‑end OLED monitor market and could reshape supplier dynamics for premium laptops and gaming displays.
