Samsung Display to invest 67 trillion won in South Korean display production

Samsung Display has announced a phased investment of 67 trillion won to establish production lines for OLED and next-generation displays. The investment will be centered in Asan, South Korea, with the first stage involving the construction of a new production line, designated as A7, at the Asan Display City 2 industrial complex. This new facility is expected to be completed by June 2028 and will likely prioritize the production of foldable OLED panels.

To support this large-scale expansion, Chungcheongnam-do province, Asan City, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and Korea Water Resources Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement ensures administrative, financial, and infrastructural support, specifically focusing on the stable supply of electricity and water required for high-tech manufacturing.

Local authorities aim to use this investment to attract additional companies in the materials, components, and equipment sectors, thereby strengthening the regional industrial ecosystem and creating jobs. The initiative is part of a broader 202 trillion won advanced industry investment plan announced by the government and the Chungcheong region.
