Samsung Display expansion in South Korea

Samsung Display has moved to reactivate and expand its production capabilities in Asan, South Korea. Initially, the company approved plans to resume construction of the A7 factory, a project suspended since 2021 due to market oversupply concerns. The facility is intended to bolster the production of flexible and foldable AMOLED displays, with construction expected to begin in early 2027 and full-scale production targeted for early 2028.

Following this, Samsung Display announced a massive phased investment of 67 trillion won to establish production lines for OLED and next-generation displays. The A7 line, located at the Asan Display City 2 industrial complex, is now expected to be completed by June 2028. To facilitate this expansion, local authorities and utility providers, including the Korea Electric Power Corporation and Korea Water Resources Corporation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure the stable supply of electricity and water. This initiative is part of a larger 202 trillion won advanced industry investment plan for the Chungcheong region.
