Samsung Display to resume A7 factory construction in Asan
Samsung Display has approved plans to resume the construction of its A7 factory in Asan, South Korea, to bolster the production of flexible and foldable AMOLED displays. The project, which had been suspended since 2021 due to concerns over market oversupply, is being reactivated as demand for foldable devices increases.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with full-scale production targeted for early 2028. The new facility will focus on high-end panels for foldable smartphones, a market seeing increased competition and interest from major players like Apple. While the exact investment amount for the A7 line is not confirmed, previous expansion plans in the region were valued at approximately $2.5 billion.
