Samsung Electronics breaks ground on HVAC production line in Gwangju
Samsung Electronics has broken ground on a new Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) production line at its Gwangju campus in South Korea. The project, involving a 240 billion won investment, aims to establish the facility as a major manufacturing hub for both consumer AI appliances and enterprise-grade HVAC solutions.
Operating through its subsidiary FläktGroup, the new line is expected to be fully operational by early 2028. It will serve as a strategic production base for the East Asian market, specifically targeting the rising demand for cooling solutions in AI data centers, semiconductor facilities, battery manufacturing plants, and large-scale commercial buildings.
The facility will produce specialized equipment, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDU), Fan Wall Units (FWU), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), and Air Handling Units (AHU). This expansion follows Samsung’s acquisition of the German-based FläktGroup in November last year, a move intended to bolster its capabilities in the central air conditioning market.
