Samsung HVAC and heat pump manufacturing expansion
Overview
Samsung Electronics is expanding its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) manufacturing and support capabilities through its subsidiary, FläktGroup, focusing on AI data center infrastructure and energy management. In August 2026, the company completed a 13,826-square-meter facility in Pune, India, to produce air handling and fan wall units for the Asia-Pacific market.
In September 2026, Samsung broke ground on a new 21,500-to-21,800-square-meter production line at its Gwangju campus in South Korea. Representing an investment of approximately 240 billion won (roughly 135 million euros), this facility is expected to be fully operational by early 2028. The project marks Samsung’s entry into the South Korean HVAC market and serves as the 15th factory in the FläktGroup network.
The Gwangju site will act as a strategic hub for Korea and East Asia, manufacturing specialized equipment such as Coolant Distribution Units (CDU) for liquid cooling in AI data centers, Fan Wall Units (FWU), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), and Air Handling Units (AHU). These products are intended to support AI data centers, semiconductor and battery facilities, and large-scale commercial buildings.
By integrating FläktGroup’s thermal management technology with Samsung’s manufacturing, the company aims to create a comprehensive HVAC business system covering development, production, installation, and maintenance. Samsung intends to utilize the FläktGroup acquisition to establish the HVAC business as a major growth engine, targeting a top global position by 2030. To support its Electric Heat Pump System (EHS) solutions, Samsung has also established a dedicated training center at its CS Academy in Suwon, South Korea.
