Samsung Electronics to invest 240 billion won in Gwangju HVAC production line

Samsung Electronics is investing approximately 240 billion won to establish a new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) production line at its Gwangju plant in South Korea. This marks the largest production facility investment at the Gwangju site since its establishment 37 years ago.

The new facility, spanning 21,800 square meters, will serve as a global hub for HVAC products targeting AI data centers and advanced manufacturing facilities. A key focus will be the production of Coolant Distribution Units (CDU), which are essential for liquid cooling systems in AI data centers. The plant will also manufacture Fan Wall Units (FWU), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), and Air Handling Units (AHU).

This initiative follows Samsung's acquisition of the German HVAC company FläktGroup last year. The Gwangju site will become FläktGroup's 15th global production facility. Samsung aims to integrate FläktGroup's central air conditioning technology with its 'SmartThings Pro' B2B platform to compete in the smart building and energy management markets, targeting a leadership position in the global HVAC industry by 2030.
