Samsung ends software support for Galaxy Watch 4 models
Samsung is ending software and security support for several older Galaxy Watch models. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, released in 2021, have officially reached their end-of-life status as of August 2026. While these devices remain functional for core tasks like health monitoring and inventory functions, they will no longer receive new operating system versions or security patches to protect against newly discovered vulnerabilities.
Other models are approaching the end of their support cycles. The Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro are expected to receive Wear OS updates through December 31, 2026. The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are also slated to lose major update support in the future.
This transition follows Samsung's shift from its proprietary Tizen software to the Google-developed Wear OS, a move intended to provide users with a wider selection of applications via the Play Store.
