Overview

By 18 August, Samsung began global distribution of August 2026 security updates, addressing 56 vulnerabilities, including 8 classified as critical and 30 as high-risk. The rollout includes the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy XCover 7, with the latter appearing in markets such as Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Samsung is also distributing an 81 MB Google Play System Update (GPSU) and updates for Private Compute Services for One UI 8.5 devices. By 21 August, reports indicated delays in the August security rollout for many Galaxy users. Samsung attributed these delays to the ongoing development of One UI 9 and Android 17, noting that regular OS upgrades can impact security patch schedules. Additionally, work on a specific update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra to improve screen color reproduction may be contributing to slower deployment across the S26 series.
