Samsung ends software support for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3

Samsung has officially ended software support for its Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones. After five years on the market, these devices will no longer receive Android feature upgrades or security patches.

Both models, originally released in 2021 with Android 11, reached their final major operating system milestone with Android 15 in 2025. While the hardware remains functional for basic tasks like calls and messaging, the cessation of security updates leaves the devices vulnerable to newly discovered exploits. The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) notes that regular patches are essential to prevent malicious actors from using vulnerabilities to deploy malware or seize control of a device.

This lifecycle conclusion contrasts with Samsung’s updated policy for newer premium hardware. For devices released from 2024 onwards, such as the Galaxy S24 series, the company has extended its commitment to provide up to seven years of software and security updates.
