Samsung leads global smartphone market in H1 2026
Samsung Electronics secured the top position in the global smartphone market during the first half of 2026, capturing a 22 percent market share. This performance comes despite a broader industry contraction, with global shipments falling by approximately 7 percent in the second quarter of the year due to rising component costs and memory shortages.
Apple followed closely in second place with a 21 percent market share, driven by demand for the iPhone 17 series. While Samsung maintains its lead, analysts note that Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market with a premium device could pressure Samsung’s dominance in that specific segment, where Samsung’s share may face potential contraction.
Beyond consumer devices, Samsung is expanding its technological footprint. The company recently hosted a forum in Silicon Valley to outline its vision for integrating artificial intelligence into daily life and robotics. Additionally, Samsung has reportedly established a dedicated team to develop robots specifically for semiconductor manufacturing plants to increase automation and efficiency in chip fabrication.
