Samsung leads global smartphone market with 22% share
Samsung has secured the top position in the global smartphone market for the first half of 2026, capturing a 22% market share according to analysis from Counterpoint Research. This leadership comes despite a challenging period for the industry; while the overall global smartphone market contracted by 7% in the second quarter of 2026, Samsung saw its shipments grow by 9% year-on-year.
Apple follows closely in second place with a 21% market share, while Xiaomi holds third place with 11%. The data suggests a tightening duopoly at the top of the market.
In terms of consumer offerings, Samsung's 2026 lineup includes the premium Galaxy S26, the mid-range Galaxy A57, and the budget-friendly Galaxy A27.
