Samsung leads smartphone and TV markets in Q1 2026
Samsung retained its position as the top smartphone vendor in Latin America during the first quarter of 2026, holding the largest share of shipments despite a 3% decline in total volumes. The company’s growth was driven by aggressive discounting of its Galaxy A and S series, while rival Motorola recorded an 8% year‑on‑year rise. Honor posted a 75% jump, increasing competitive pressure on Xiaomi, Oppo and other Chinese brands.
In the same period, Samsung also led the global television market, capturing 31.3% of total TV sales and a majority share in premium segments. The firm held 53.4% of sales for models above $2,500 and 50.1% for those above $1,500. OLED sales rose 28.8% year over year, giving Samsung a 40.1% share of the OLED segment, with North America accounting for 46.1% of OLED TV sales. The company expects demand to rise further ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
