Samsung Lions slide in KBO standings after losses to Lotte Giants

The Samsung Lions are facing a significant drop in the KBO League standings following a difficult two-game road series against the Lotte Giants in Busan. In their most recent matchup on the 20th, Samsung suffered a 6-13 defeat, highlighted by a disastrous fourth inning where they surrendered 10 runs. Starting pitcher Won Tae-in struggled significantly, allowing 9 earned runs over 3.1 innings.

This loss, combined with a previous 5-3 defeat to Lotte on the 19th—decided by a 135m home run from Lotte’s Han Dong-hee—has left Samsung in a precarious position. While Samsung previously held a comfortable lead, the gap between first-place KT Wiz and second-place Samsung has widened to 3.5 games. Meanwhile, third-place LG Twins have extended their winning streak to seven games, narrowing the gap between second and third place to just two games.

In other league action, KT Wiz maintained their lead at the top of the standings by defeating the Doosan Bears 9-8, while the LG Twins secured a 4-3 victory over the Hanwha Eagles.
