Samsung narrows gap with Apple in Vietnam e-commerce market

Samsung has significantly closed the sales gap with Apple on major Vietnamese e-commerce platforms, according to a report by Metric.vn covering the third quarter of 2026. While Apple remained the top brand with 1,923 billion VND in sales, it was the only brand in the top 10 to experience a year-on-year decline of 23.35%.

In contrast, Samsung saw its sales reach 1,631 billion VND, a growth of 98.70%. The gap between the two leaders has shrunk from approximately 1,690 billion VND in Q3 2025 to just 290 billion VND in Q3 2026. Other notable performers in the top 10 included Vinamilk, which reached 954 billion VND, and Xiaomi, which recorded 830 billion VND.

Separately, reports from South Korea indicate that Samsung is reducing production of its budget-friendly Galaxy A series by approximately 20% for the fourth quarter. This decision is driven by rising memory component costs and a strategic shift to prioritize high-margin hardware for AI-capable flagship models, such as the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series.
