Samsung C&T Renewable Energy Australia has secured formal grid connection clearance for the Mangoplah battery energy storage project in New South Wales. The 100 MW / 400 MWh facility, located near Wagga Wagga, received a 5.3.4A letter from the Australian Energy Market Operator, confirming it meets the technical requirements to connect to the National Electricity Market.

The project is situated on a 10.5-hectare site near Mangoplah and will connect to the 132 kV electricity transmission network. The battery energy storage system is intended to provide system strength services and improve security of supply as the region transitions to more renewable energy sources.

Following federal environmental clearance, construction of the Mangoplah facility is expected to begin in 2027, with commercial operations projected to start between 2028 and 2029.
