Samsung SmartTag 3 compatibility limited to Galaxy and iPhone

Samsung has clarified the compatibility of its new SmartTag 3 location tracker, following conflicting reports regarding its support for non-Samsung Android devices. While the company initially suggested the tracker would work with other Android smartphones via the SmartThings and Samsung Find apps, it has since retracted those statements.

Samsung confirmed that the SmartTag 3 is primarily designed for the Galaxy ecosystem. Although the device now offers limited support for Apple iPhones—missing certain features like Compass View and Left Behind Alerts—it does not support other Android brands, including Google Pixel devices. Samsung stated there are currently no plans to extend support to non-Galaxy Android hardware.

Additionally, certain advanced features like the improved Compass View directional tracking are restricted to specific high-end models equipped with Bluetooth Channel Sounding, such as the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
