Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 features compact design and iOS support

Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag3, a new generation of Bluetooth tracking device. The hardware features a more compact design, being approximately 35% smaller in volume and 33% lighter than the previous SmartTag2 model. It includes an aluminum-finished button and maintains an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

A major strategic shift for this series is the introduction of cross-platform compatibility. For the first time, the tracker supports iOS devices via the SmartThings Find app, allowing iPhone users to perform basic location tracking and nearby searches. However, the device remains exclusive to the Samsung ecosystem for advanced features like location history and proactive notifications, and it does not integrate with Google’s ‘Find My Device’ network.

Technological upgrades include Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding, which extends the Compass View range to 60 meters—roughly triple the distance of its predecessor. For close-range precision, the device utilizes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology. The tracker is powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery, offering up to 550 days of standard use or 790 days in power-saving mode. It leverages the Galaxy Find Network, which consists of over 900 million compatible devices worldwide, to assist in locating lost items.
