Samsung unveils P7 Portable SSD and 990 SSD models

Samsung Electronics has announced new storage solutions, including the P7 Portable SSD and the 990 SSD.

Introduced at Gamescom 2026, the P7 Portable SSD utilizes USB4 connectivity to achieve transfer speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s. It is available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 8TB and is designed for high-demand workflows such as 12K direct recording, AI content creation, and large-scale gaming. The device is compatible with desktops, laptops, smartphones, cameras, and gaming consoles.

Additionally, the company unveiled the 990 SSD, an internal storage option optimized for gaming and creative workloads. Utilizing PCIe 4.0 and advanced NAND technology, the 2TB model offers sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s, while the 1TB model reaches 7,150 MB/s. Both models feature sequential write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s and are designed for improved energy efficiency and rapid application loading.
