Samsung unveils P9 and P7 USB4 portable SSDs at Gamescom 2026

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new P Series of portable solid-state drives, featuring USB4 connectivity, at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany. The lineup includes the flagship P9 and the versatile P7 models, designed to meet the high-speed data demands of AI content creation, ultra-high-resolution video, and large-scale gaming.

The flagship P9 is positioned for professional workflows, offering sequential read speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 3,800 MB/s. It is notable for being the world’s first USB4 portable SSD to offer an 8TB capacity, supporting direct 12K video recording. The P7 model is aimed at everyday consumers, offering high-speed storage with enhanced durability, having passed 2-meter drop tests and vibration resistance standards.

Both models are available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 8TB. Global sales are scheduled to begin on August 31, 2026.
