Samsung unveils P9 and P7 USB4 portable SSDs

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its next-generation P Series of portable SSDs, featuring USB4 connectivity, at Gamescom 2026. The new lineup includes the flagship P9 and the more versatile P7 models, both designed to meet the increasing storage demands of AI-driven content and high-resolution video.

The P9 is positioned for professional workflows, offering sequential read speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,800 MB/s. It is noted as the industry’s first 8TB USB4 portable SSD, capable of supporting 12K direct recording for video professionals. The P7 is geared toward everyday users, providing high-speed storage for laptops, smartphones, and gaming consoles, with durability features including 2-meter drop resistance.

Both models are available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 8TB. A global rollout is expected to begin in early September 2026. In India, the P9 1TB model is priced at ₹32,639, while the 8TB variant reaches ₹2,59,199.
