Samu conducts psychiatric emergency training in Dourados

The Samu 192 Regional Dourados Emergency Education Nucleus (NEU) conducted a technical training session in Dourados to improve emergency and urgent care responses. The event, held at Faculdade Anhanguera, brought together professionals from Samu, the Mato Grosso do Sul Military Fire Department, Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), and academics.

A primary focus of the training was the management of psychiatric emergencies, a response to a nationwide increase in calls involving individuals in psychiatric crisis. The program was divided into two modules: one addressing institutional limitations and the integration of services between different agencies, and a second module specifically focused on technical management and patient reception during psychiatric crises.

According to Dr. Otávio Miguel Liston, general coordinator of Samu Regional Dourados, new protocols have recently been established by the State Health Secretariat to organize and qualify care across Mato Grosso do Sul, including for smaller municipalities.
