San Berillo police operation targets drugs and urban decay

Italian State Police, in coordination with local police and waste management services, conducted an extraordinary security and urban decorum operation in the San Berillo district. The initiative aimed to address issues related to drug use and urban decay in areas frequently visited by homeless individuals and substance users.

During the operation, drug-sniffing dogs located 250 grams of narcotics, including 100 grams of marijuana and 150 grams of hashish, which had been hidden within dry stone walls. Authorities also checked over 50 non-EU citizens, identifying five individuals with irregular residency status for deportation proceedings.

To restore urban order, the joint effort resulted in the removal of abandoned or uninsured vehicles and the collection of large quantities of waste and bulky items, requiring five trucks to clear the area.
