San Diego Comic-Con Málaga hosts major film and comic stars

The second edition of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga is underway at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA), drawing significant crowds for its weekend programming. The event features a massive 85,000-square-meter space to accommodate fans of comics, anime, and cinema.

Major highlights include a Marvel Studios panel for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ featuring actors Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Winston Duke. Additionally, the convention hosted a highly anticipated appearance by Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, who met with fans of ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Other notable programming included the live-action ‘One Piece’ cast and various panels with international comic book creators such as John Romita Jr., Pepe Larraz, Dan Mora, and Jorge Jiménez.

Local authorities have noted the event's importance for the Andalusian digital and video game industries. Officials highlighted that the region has grown to become the third largest video game hub in Spain, with 107 active studios contributing approximately 86 million euros in revenue in 2023.
