San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026

Overview

The second edition of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga is underway at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA), utilizing a massive 85,000-square-meter space to accommodate fans of comics, anime, and cinema.

Programming has featured high-level panels with prominent comic book creators, including John Romita Jr., Pepe Larraz, Dan Mora, and Jorge Jiménez. A major highlight included a Marvel Studios panel for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ featuring actors Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Winston Duke. Additionally, manga creator Yoichi Takahashi hosted a masterclass, and the event saw highly anticipated appearances by Elijah Wood and Sean Astin for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ fans, alongside the cast of the live-action ‘One Piece’ adaptation.

High-profile international guests such as Karl Urban and Aya Cash have also drawn significant crowds. Attendees are spending substantial amounts on celebrity encounters, with some reporting costs up to 600 euros for combinations of autographs and photographs. Specific pricing includes 95 euros for a photo with Karl Urban, 65 euros for Aya Cash, and 160 euros for a joint photo with both actors.

Local authorities have noted the event’s importance for the Andalusian digital and video game industries. Officials highlighted that the region has become the third largest video game hub in Spain, with 107 active studios contributing approximately 86 million euros in revenue in 2023.
