San Fernando, Chile to Open New CESFAM and SAR Health Center After Funding Secured

Chile's Ministry of Health and the O’Higgins regional government have agreed to provide the remaining resources needed to open the new Centro de Salud Familiar (CESFAM) and Servicio de Atención Primaria de Urgencia de Alta Resolutividad (SAR) in San Fernando. Minister of Health May Chomali and regional governor Pablo Silva Amaya announced a strategic cooperation to finance the final equipment phase, allowing the facility—already built and slated to serve more than 30,000 residents—to begin operations as soon as possible.

The modern health center, funded with an investment of 12.3 million Chilean pesos, includes medical and dental offices, multipurpose boxes, emergency rooms, lactation and respiratory care areas, and is designed for universal accessibility. Authorities said they are accelerating pending municipal and health‑authority approvals to ensure a swift opening, strengthening primary‑care coverage in the Colchagua province.
