Netflix to produce documentary on Daejon Love alleged 49ers scam

Netflix has announced a new installment of its ‘Untold’ documentary series titled ‘Untold: Wide Deceiver,’ which will cover the case of Daejon Love. Love is accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and a successful real estate investor to defraud women through fraudulent investment schemes.

Federal authorities allege that Love and an 18-year-old accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, orchestrated a scheme that began around February 2022. By using social media and dating applications, Love reportedly built a fabricated persona involving luxury lifestyles and professional sports connections to gain the trust of victims across California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

While initial reports identified 26 victims, the number of women who have come forward has grown to 61. The documentary is expected to feature firsthand accounts from those affected by the alleged $1.3 million scam. Love and Chan were arrested by federal agents in August 2026 and face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
