San Isidro Feria Bullfighting Awards Announced, San Sebastián de los Reyes Honored

The Real Casino de Madrid concluded the 2026 Feria de San Isidro by awarding its XXX Premios Taurinos. Román Collado was named "Triunfador de la Feria" and also won "Mejor estocada". Alejandro Talavante received the "Mejor faena" prize, while other categories recognized performances by Diego Ventura, Juan Melgar, Ángel Otero, Julio Méndez and others. The honours will be formally presented at a gala dinner in the casino’s Salón Real.

Separately, the Asociación Taurina Parlamentaria presented a municipal award to the town of San Sebastián de los Reyes for its historic encierros. The ceremony took place in the Spanish Senate, presided over by Senate President Pedro Rollán and association president Miguel Cid. Mayor Lucía S. Fernández accepted the distinction, highlighting the event’s five‑century legacy, its draw of over 10,000 spectators, televised coverage on Antena 3 and its designation as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The encierros trace back to a 1525 provision by Emperor Charles V and have only been suspended three times – during the Civil War, a 1969 judicial dispute, and the COVID‑19 pandemic.
